How Long Does it Take to Create a New Website in Australia?

There are different kinds of website service providers in Australia such as local companies, freelancers & solo traders. What kind of website developer are you dealing with?
As we mentioned before, there are three types of web-design builders in Australia. If you are dealing with a locally registered company, you can make sure that everything will go as planned. These companies have experience and flexibility to match your needs with the timeframe. They will give you an optimised timeframe considering your website complexity and features. The time frame might be different, depending on the type of website you request, but they will be committed to their schedule. You can trust them.
If you deal with freelancers, the scenario would be complicated. They are usually from a foreign country with no local support in Australia. You should know them personally to trust them, otherwise, you might lose your time and money.

How many “unique” pages do you have?
The number of total pages doesn’t affect the web design project time frame, though, it is important that how many unique pages you are supposed to build. For example, if you are selling laptops, you will create a page template for all of your products, then you enter the data for each laptop separately.
In this case, you don’t need to build a page for each laptop separately. So, if you want to estimate how long it takes for your website to be completed, you should estimate the number of unique pages you need on your website.
Which CMS do you want to be used?
If you are going to use an open-source CMS for your website, like WordPress, that would save a considerable amount of time! But if for any reason, you need to have a dedicated CMS, then a lot of time would be spent to build that type of website. Do you have your contents ready?
Some customers think that website building includes content providing, which is a wrong assumption. Once your website is ready, you are responsible for providing and entering your website’s contents. However, you might want to work with the same company to create content in a separate project. Content entering can only be done after the website is built. However, preparing the content, which is very important and time-taking, can be organised in advance. In order to save time, we suggest you start creating and gathering your contents before or during the time the website is being built, if you are in a hurry to launch your website.

So far, we learned what elements affect the overall web design timeframe. Now we would like to talk about the timeframe of each step of the website creation project. - Writing a proposal as a project executive plan: 1 day to 4 days
- Visual identity and content priority: 2 days to 2 weeks
- Graphical design: 1 week to 3 weeks
- Coding the website considering the SEO standards: 1 week to 6 weeks
- Test and quality check: 2 days to 2 weeks
- Training & moving to the domain: 1 day to 3 days
As outlined above, the minimum time needed for a web design project would be 22 days, while the maximum time needed would be up to 20 weeks. However, in some rare projects, the process might take even longer.
Finally, how long does it take?

- More complicated eCommerce
An eCommerce website with unique features like creating designed receipt, or inventory management may take around 65 days up to 95 days
- A complicated website
If you want to create Amazon number 2, that would be a different story. The timeline of such a website would be more than three months with no doubt. However, depending on its complexity and CMS, it may even take up to a year for mega projects.
